Regional Health Transportation
Rainy River District
Ontario Health Team:
Proud of Our Partnership
The Rainy River District Ontario Health Team is proud to have helped establish the foundation for an important regional transportation option in partnership with its member partners and operated by Riverside Health Care.
Riverside’s Specialty and Diagnostics transportation program has opened the door to affordable access to Thunder Bay medical centres that many Rainy River District residents may otherwise be unable to coordinate. It offers the ability to visit a pacemaker clinic, get an MRI or other important diagnostics that are not currently available in our district.
Making the trip to Thunder Bay via La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, with connecting stops available at Atikokan General Hospital and other locations along the way for remote and First Nation communities, Riverside leverages other existing transportation programs and collaborates with OHT partners in the district to help reach across the district into remote and rural areas to enable better outcomes for our most vulnerable community members.
Visit the Riverside Health Care website for details, including costs and scheduling.
District Indigenous Transportation Program
Gizhewaadiziwin Health Access Centre offers a growing transportation program for medical transports for out-of-town appointments, patient discharges and clients with accessibility needs. Servicing Indigenous and Metis individuals, a driver is typically available seven days a week from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., except holidays.
