Men’s Health Awareness & Diabetes Awareness Month


To recognize Men’s Health Awareness Month and Diabetes Awareness Month, the Rainy River District Ontario Health Team, its health care partners and community collaborators
are coming together on Monday, Nov. 3 in Fort Frances to promote healthy conversation and wellness for mind and body.

Keynote:
Humboldt Broncos Bus Crash Survivor talks Mental Health, Healing & Hope

Tyler Smith, winner of  The Amazing Race Canada Season 9, is a survivor of the 2018 Humboldt Broncos bus crash that claimed the lives of 16 teammates, staff, and coaches.


He is the founder of Not Alone Co., a mental health awareness clothing line dedicated to facilitating conversations around trauma, PTSD, and mental health. Tyler co-hosts the podcast Speak Your Mind with NHL veteran Riley Sheahan, normalizing discussions about mental health with guests from sports, entertainment, and beyond. Through public speaking and advocacy, Tyler inspires individuals and communities to embrace vulnerability, build connections, and create safe spaces for healing and hope.


This presentation is made possible by CMHA Fort Frances and the Fort Frances Men’s Mental Health Memorial Basketball Tournament.

Program:   6:30 p.m. CT (Theatre doors open at 6 p.m.)
Location: Townshend Theatre, Fort Frances
Admission: FREE and open to the public — ALL AGES


LIMITED SEATING:  Must check in and receive wrist band to be seated in Theatre. Individuals may be turned away from keynote once capacity is reached.

Traditional drumming will be provided by Agency Drum Group. The invited drum is
the traditional agency drum of Giishkaandago'Ikwe Health Services — Aazhawii Giizhik.

Health & Wellness Showcase


Local health care and community service partners are coming together to encourage and educate Rainy River District residents on the importance of caring for both mind and body, offering conversations on physical and mental health, diabetes prevention and management, and overall wellness. This community event is intended to be an inclusive and collaborative evening of connection with a goal of strengthening the health of our communities.


We welcome all community members across the district to come to Fort Frances to explore, learn from, and engage with a broad sampling of health care professionals and other community support partners who offer answers to wellness-related questions you may not even know you had.
